New Beginnings

It has been a while since the last posting, and many events have taken place since. Cheryl moved to Toronto with her husband and youngest daughter Adele; that has been a challenge for the whole family, being uprooted (once again) and having to adapt to a new environment.
Cheryl has been directing this emotional energy into her creations, which draw inspiration from her personal experience, as well as the history of her ancestors traced all the way back to Russia, and their travels.

Cheryl and Renata Harquevaux will be exhibiting their artwork from April 5th to May 3rd 2009 at La Coupole in La Gaude. The exhibition is called "Latitudes Longitudes" in reference to their different geographical situations, their ancestor's travellings and uprootings, and the disposition of the artwork during the exhibit.

Renata has been using vertical strips of canvas to paint, some as long as 11 metres, which will be hanging down from the ceiling while hundreds of Cheryl's Russian dolls and protective amulets will be spread out horizontally underneath.

Keep on the lookout for more posts and pictures about the upcoming exhibition,
and for those who can make it we look forward to seeing you there!
